InaTrap insect killer takes insects out in designer style

17:57 June 14, 2012

Although currently only available in blue and purple, other colors may be on the way

The InaTrap insect killer lures insects using an intermittent light and photocatalyst reaction to produce CO2

We know there’s an ongoing quest to build a better mousetrap, but what about a better insect trap? That’s just what Acase, working with design house inadays, believes it has done with the creation of the InaTrap. With an appearance not dissimilar to a designer lamp, the InaTrap attracts, traps and kills insects so you can ditch the swatter and insect spray.

The device boasts a number of features designed to lure in mosquitoes and other insects and trap them in the base of the unit. A photocatalyst in the top dome produces low levels of carbon dioxide to simulate human breath, while a low power CCFL UV light flashes intermittently. Once the insects are drawn into the area under the top dome, a noiseless fan pushes them into the removable holding container in the base of the unit. A dash of wine or steric acid can also be placed in the holding container to enhance the device’s powers of attraction.

The unit’s designer looks and its 8.46 x 8.46 x 12.4 inch (21.5 x 21.5 x 31.5 cm) dimensions are intended to give it the appearance of a porcelain sculpture rather than an insect killing machine in the home, while its 2.64 lb (1.2 kg) weight allows it to be easily taken outdoors. It comes with an AC adapter for indoor use and a rechargeable battery that provides nine to 10 hours of outdoor use. The unit also comes with a timer that will see the unit operate continuously for eight hours.
The InaTrap comes in baby blue or pastel purple, with the blue retailing at amazon for US$84.99 and the purple going for $89.50. Although judging by the press pics, more colors will be available in the future

InaTrap High-Tech Insect Trap Keeps Mosquitos From Ruining Your Cookout

by JULIE on JUNE 17, 2012 · 2 COMMENTS

The InaTrap from Acase is a futuristic looking LED lamp that attracts those nasty blood sucking mosquitos and traps them without having to use harmful sprays, chemicals or even propane gas. A noiseless built-in fan produces a small amount of carbon dioxide to lure the mosquitos and then sucks them into the trap. It features an 8 hour built-in timer, easy clean design and an instant touch power button. The InaTrap is available now through Amazon for $89.50. I wonder if this device works better than good old Citronella candles?

The InaTrap is a pretty stylish looking insect trap

When it comes to insect traps, the majority of them can be eyesores but since they aren’t always required and they’re there to just serve a singular purpose, we guess we can’t really complain. However for those who are extremely particular about the way their household items are designed, Acase has collaborated with design house inadays to come up with the InaTrap, which as pictured above would have totally not passed off as an insect trap on first, second and probably the third glance as well!
Looking rather alien-like in design, the InaTrap works via a photocatalyst built into the top dome of the device where it produces low levels of carbon dioxide meant to simulate human breath, along with a low power CCFL UV light that flashes intermittently. Once the insects have been lured to the device, a noiseless fan pushes them into the base of the device which can be removed for cleaning purposes. Alternatively other insect attractors such as wine or steric acid can be placed in the holding chamber to help enhance its “attractiveness”.
The InaTrap comes with a built-in rechargeable battery that promises 9-10 hours of use, along with an AC adapter if you’re planning to just leave it in one spot all the time. Now if you thought that this was a concept, it’s not and it’s actually available for purchase via Amazon. The blue version is retailing at $84.99 while thepurple version is priced at $89.50. Who knew insect traps could look so stylish! In the meantime you can check out the video below to see the design process of the InaTrap.

Acase Inatrap is a fancy way to annihilate bugs

Acase InaTrap1 Acase Inatrap is a fancy way to annihilate bugs

Summer is a most joyous period in which you may spend quality time outdoors. The only issue with being outside are the bugs that come with it. Namely mosquitoes, as one bite from them will have you itching for a week. While bug zappers and chemcial killers are effective, they are either noisy or smelly. This is going to affect your precious time in temperate weather, so it should seem only proper that you would want a quieter, less-intrusive way of dealing with insects.
Acase has recently unveiled a product called the InaTrap, which is a very sophisticated way to rid yourself of bugs. It looks quite similar to a ceramic lamp, and uses a very peculiar, yet brilliant method of attracting its prey. The top portion produces carbon dioxide through a photo-catalyst reaction with a warm atmosphere. This will make bugs think that a human is present. The middle section provides a soft LED light that will lure them in. Once they are close, the bottom portion will suck them in, as it has a fan that lets things in, but not out. These will cost you anywhere from $85-$90 at the moment, and might be a worthwhile purchase.

Acase shows off InaTrap insect killer

by Edwin - on June 15th, 2012

There are many ways to skin a cat if you have the know-how, but how many ways are there for one to kill insects? Mosquitoes are always a huge nuisance for many of us, especially those of us who live in the tropics. Not only do these have a vicious bite, their bites leave you with the risk of catching some disease as well as an itching sensation which prove hard to soothe if you do not have the right ointment. While there is a fair amount of traditional methods to prevent mosquitoes from coming near you, technology, too, has a role to play in this situation.
Take Acase for example – their InaTrap insect killer is said to be one elegant solution in doing away with these pesky mosquitoes as well as other irritating insects around you in an eco-friendly way – and yet without requiring you to plant Venus flytraps strategically all over the place. Not only that, there is also no use of harsh chemicals, propane tanks or unsightly equipment to get rid of these pesky insects, but rather, the Inatrap is said to be able to easily prevent mosquitos from spreading diseases or creating itches and scratches on your skin.
The functional design of the InaTrap will lure mosquitoes in using a soft LED light as well as a photo-catalyst reaction which is said to produce low levels of CO2 in a warm atmosphere, hence fooling the mosquitoes into thinking that there is a human among them. When flying too close close to the Intrap’s vicinity, the mosquitoes and insects will end up trapped in a retainer cage thanks to a little help by the whisper-quiet and yet powerful fan.
Tom Hsieh, Sales and Marketing Manager of Acase, says, “Inatrap allows us to enjoy a weekend picnic, camping trips or even an evening in the living room without the need to worry about insects. You can eliminate mosquitos and other insects in a lot of ways, but only InaTrap will do it effectively, safely and in style.”
Specially designed to resemble an avant-garde porcelain sculpture, Inatrap does not weigh anything more than three pounds, and is ideal for a portable outdoor trip, or to remain indoors when dusk falls. Not only that, there is also an 8 hour built-in timer and an instant touch operation button that makes it a no-brainer to operate. Expect the Inatrap to retail for $64.95 each.

LED fly trap sends bugs to death in style

LED fly trap sends bugs to death in style

Drop dead gorgeous. Killer good looks. This new fly trap is a designer's dream and a summertime bug's worst nightmare all wrapped into one. The new designer fly trap with the glowing LED light is a little lamp that will look great on your deck, but packs a unique punch to keep the bugs away from your outdoor leisure time.

Most of us are used to smelly citronella candles or bug zappers that sound like someone just fired off a taser instead of killing a mosquito. This InaTrap from Acase sends out a lovely glow from its LED bulb; the LED light combined with a photo-catalyst reaction produces a warm waft of CO2 that mimics a human breath.
The hapless bugs just can't resist the CO2 — and can't tell it's not human. Plus, "that light is freakin' fantastic," thinks the bug collective, and once they are too close to the glowing light to realize it's a trap, they are drawn into the stealthy little fan and dropped into pest prison.
At that point, let 'em fly or let 'em die; it's entirely up to you whether you empty the container before they go legs up.
Yes, I officially want to test one out. The light actually seems functional in it's own right regardless of it's unique bug trapping duties, and you've gotta love that.
The InaTrap is available from Amazon starting at $90.

Designer Fly Trap Is A Beautiful Way To Kill Bugs

If for some reason you feel guilty whenever you kill a mosquito or other annoying bug, this beautifully sculpted fly trap should ease your pain. We can’t imagine a more elegant or soothing place for insects to meet their demise.

But Acase’s $US80 InaTrap isn’t just about looks; it’s also packing some innovative technology to lure insects into its trap. Using a soft glowing LED light and a photo-catalyst reaction, it produces warm CO2 that mimics a human’s breath. And since that’s how mosquitos and other flying insects always seem to find you, they’re fooled into approaching the trap until they’re sucked into an escape-proof cage by a whisper-quiet fan. At that point you can either play the benevolent human and release them into the wild later, or just let the corpses pile up as a warning to other would-be blood suckers.

Acase Unveils InaTrap, Possibly The Best Looking Insect Killer

Acase InaTrap Designer Insect Trap

Long story short… I haven’t had the best luck with insect traps… specifically mosquito traps.  Most have failed me.  In fact I have wasted quite a bit of money on useless mosquito traps like the NosQuito trap.  With that said, I have yet to get my hands on the Acase InaTrap which is one good looking bug catcher.  The InaTrap claims to catch bugs / mosquito’s using a soft LED light and a photo-catalyst reaction which produces low levels of warm CO2… it then traps them with a quite and powerful fan.  Can’t wait to try one out… full press release after the break.
